About us
Welcome to our website, we are very proud to be able to share Villa Petalutha, our Greek home in Rhodes. But who are we?
Your hosts are Katrina and Mark Borthwick and we are both Project Managers in the UK. Katrina in I.T. and Mark in Property Development and Construction. Away from our professional lives we love to travel and pride ourselves of never visiting the same place twice as there are so many places on our planet to see. However that all changed in 2007!
"Rhodes exceeded our expectations"
Our October 2007 holiday to Rhodes exceeded our expectations. The weather was perfect, we found the island enchanting, the locals warm and friendly and the food excellent. This together with so many sights and activities to keep us busy, we wondered why we had never visited Rhodes before!
Everything happened so fast, but we threw caution to the wind and bought a holiday home. Who knew we could be so elated with owning a concrete shell!! Contracts exchanged in January 2008 and we picked up the keys to our new, complete villa in June 2008. We owe thanks to Angela and George for building us such a beautiful and high quality villa. We couldn’t have asked for a better group of neighbours either, all of whom, together with Angela and George have become good friends.
We secured the services of local Property Managing Agent, Kim and her team to ensure the Villa was maintained whilst we were out of the country. It is so important for us to know we have somebody local we trust to look after our home.
"still pinching ourselves that this dream is a reality"
With everything complete for July 2008, all we needed was a name. Villa Petalutha, taken from the Greek word for Butterfly (Petaluda), came to mind during a visit to the Butterfly Valley, as it reminded us of the cocoons on the villa when we inspected it and we weren’t disappointed by the flurry of butterflies in June. Like the butterfly, Villa Petalutha metamorphosed from that concrete shell on a building site to a stunning Villa in a beautiful area.
We are very proud of our achievements to date and are still pinching ourselves that this dream is a reality. We have had great feedback from our everybody who has stayed in Villa Petalutha, however as naturally perfectionists, we try to make improvements and upgrades every year.
We keep our website up to date with changes and additions, so please keep looking back.
Mark and Katrina Borthwick
